  1. The Studio 42 is really a cool piece of typewriter! Cross the finger for me: I've just bidded for one in eBay. I hope to have some good news soon :-)

  2. Wow!
Are you bidding for the one with black wrinkle paint and french keyboard?

  3. Yep, and I didn't even notice the French layout... XD Anyway, I like it also with those four keys switched!

  4. Btw, do you think will be possible to change the position of the type-hammers to make a QWERTY layout?

  5. Hum... probably not, maybe yes but with a lot of precision work.
But for sure it will lack the "ò" and the "ì", used in italian language, missing on the french layout.

  6. So I'll write my entire novel with these four letters switched, I bet! :D

  7. Hello, first time here.

Thanks for this post, the Olivetti Studio 42 is quite a handsome typewriter. You're very fortunate to have one. I see that you also have a Diaspron with multi-colored keys. Hope you do a post on it, it's spectacular.

Cheers and welcome to the Typosphere!

  8. Yes, I'll certainly write with my Diaspron and I'm also gonna write a page with a couple of pics of the (partial) restoration of that typewriter!
    Stay tuned :-)

  9. Wow, that's a very nice Studio 42 - I've never seen one in a color other from black. What's the serial number of yours? It should be stanped on a silver metal part, at about 1/3 of the total length, on the underside of the machine.

  10. Mine is 684631, probably a later version than the black one, the Olivetti logo is also different...
